About the Artist, Bria ♥

Welcome!

I am a visual artist and writer from NYC. My creative journey began as soon as I discovered how to hold pencils and make marks on paper. Art and writing became a safe space to process the world around me. No matter the seasons and life changes, that which persists is my need to get lost in expressive creation.

Growing up in Queens, NY, I was always surrounded by an array of diverse art and culture as well as my own Pakistani and south Asian culture; a consistent swirling vortex of rich color, lighting, patterns, intricate details, culinary art, fashion, music, and interior design. Drawing inspiration from my love for nature and wildlife, movies, literature and history from around the world, I’ve become addicted to the process of absorbing the beauty of the world around me and being inspired to bring forth new visions through my own impression. What used to be a private practice, I now share with the world through this virtual gallery space.

Although I am always exploring different themes and styles, I’ve fallen in love with expressive abstract surrealism and playing with light. My work often consists of dark backgrounds, expressive florals, and glowing elements. I don’t have an answer for what it all means but perhaps where there is darkness, there is always light.
